I just wanted to send a quick note to ask if anyone is willing and able, the board is operating with VERY little funds. Currently, we have enough funds to operate through today (october 12th). I borrowed a bit of money from my savings account, but cannot do that again. If anyone is willing and able to donate - we cannot and will not be able to remain open without the donations from parents, family and friends of the board. Starting Monday the 17th, we will begin closing some sections of the board if we do not receive the needed funds. To operate through the rest of the year we need roughly $500. That is based on current membership levels. I hate to beg - I wish this board could fund itself through tshirt & button sales....BUT we are not there yet. Donating is easy - just click the "Donate" button at the top of the board! Thanks everyone! I KNOW that many of us have been totally dependent on this board since our recruits left home.... It would be a shame if we didn't contribute so that it will be here for other folks missing their loved one. Thank you for all that you do. And thank you for having this place where we can all come. It is such a blessing!

As a way to get more people to contribute via donating, maybe save something special just for those people. Like, only allow avatars or signatures for those who donate. Or a button under their names stating they are supporters. I know it's hard to get people to contribute especially in todays economy but I do know these incentives work because I have fallen for it on a couple occasions, lol. I donated a couple months ago but will do so again when payday hits. But it really would be a complete shame to lose this board due to funding reasons. I really look forward to camping out here when my son leaves for boot camp and I'll be so lost if it's no longer here in 7 months

What is usually on the t-shirts? My son is scheduled to graduate on January 20th so might be too late to order anyway. Do most people have these shirts on? Are they worn on Family Day or Graduation or both? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Am totally clueless........... thank you.

If you order one online, you can get it customized with platoon numbers, graduation date, your Marine's name, ect. I ordered mine online and it got to my house in about 10 days. If you don't want to chance it, there is a store near Parris Island called the Corps Store that sells all kinds of t-shirts, jackets, and accessories. You cannot customize them, but they do have the battalion color, battalion number, and company name.
