Each Battalion at Parris Island has their own coin. You can buy one during family day. When your new Marine gets out into the fleet, his new "unit" will also have their own coin. Many Marines collect the coins. Posts: 104 Jan 9 11 7:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Several weeks ago I engaged in a conversation with a retired Marine from the VietNam era and I told him that I had a son at PI and he told me about the coins......he gave me his email and I asked him about the coins again last week and here is what he said....(if you google his name, you will find what an extraordinary man he is and all that he overcame as a Marine...) "Hi, This is Cliff Treese The coins are called Challenge Coins. Tell him where ever he gets stationed at to get a challenge coin or something from the area where he is at. Maybe not right now but if he is a typical Marine, years down the road he will look back and when he sees his different collectibles he will remember old times. Any other questions just ask, Cliff Treese Have fun and enjoy Parris Island and take plenty of pictures."

While I was picking up the graduation coin set and photo pins I had ordered at the engraving shop, the woman said "Did you see the Crucible Coin?" I had no idea what she was talking about. They have a coin from the Crucible- it has a picture of the Iwo Jima statue on 1 side and the EGA on the other. It also has the date they completed the Crucible. THAT IS THE DATE THEY FORMALLY BECAME A MARINE. I have put it in the same box that has his EGA from the crucible. I am not sure if you can order them from the engraving shop or not. Try calling them down at PI. Janice
