OK, I've found it necessary to post this in every section now, in hopes that people will actually READ the rules.
Here are some FAQ's you all may have:
Do I have to use my son/daughters social security number on the mail I send him/her?
No, this isn't necessary. As long as you have the correct Battalion, Platoon and Company, it will get to the recruit.
Will the DI's open my recruits mail?
No, opening someone else's mail is a federal offense. If the DI suspects the mail may contain contraband, the recruit would have to open the mail in front of the DI and show the DI the contents. All packages must be opened in front of the DI.
What is the Pit?
A large sandbox where the recruits go and do various exercises for punishment, or "incentive PT".
What is the quarterdeck?
It's a large open area at the front of the squadbay were the recruits go to do more incentive PT for punsishment. Normally, the quarterdeck is a ceremonial location on a Navy ship where the Officer of the Day stands watch and greets each person as they come aboard the ship.

Rules
Last Names & DI's Names
Don't use them, very simple! Don't use yours and don't use your recruits last name.
- Do not use your last name as part of your username.
- If your email contains your last name, and you want people from the board to be able to email you, we suggest signing up for a free email account. You can make a new email name (without your last name) and use it for all the board related emails.
DI's names - don't use the DI's name. Simply say SDI or DI.
Photos & Company Websites
There are currently no company websites for any companies at Parris Island. If a company website comes online, we will post about it for all to see. We would love to be able to take photos of all the companies for you, but we cannot.
More Photos rules posts can be read in the photos section.
Phone Calls
While phone calls home are great, it's a rare occurance. We will not allow posts containing information about recruits calling home. There are exceptions to this:
1. Initial "I'm Here" Phone Calls
2. Liberty Sunday Phone Calls
3. Phone Calls on Christmas
4. Medical Calls from your recruit (dropped to medical)
When someone gets a phone call for any other reason, yes it's great. But it does create false hope for those who didn't get a call, but may be from the same platoon.

Final Notes
Please don't type in all caps. In "cyber-speak" this is considered yelling, and it is also hard to read.
Use common sense when posting. If you have a question, ask it. There is no such thing as a stupid question. If your son or daughter writes home with disturbing news (ie: 1/2 the company failed the PFT, or someone tried to committ suicide) PLEASE do not post it. Email Lori at vannfamily3@numail.org to discuss the matter. Think before you post.
DO NOT print any information from this board and send it to your recruits. This includes training matrixes, encouragement notes, prayers or other information. The information provided here is for your knowledge, NOT your recruits.
Don't bash the Marine Corps. I don't come into your home and bash your livelyhood, don't come into my home and bash mine. Yes, the Marines can sometimes screw up (it's happened to us), but this is my life and my husbands job. You can complain yes, but don't bash the Corps.
Yes we have DI's who visit and post on the board. There is currently not a DI for every company who posts. If the DI is not from your company, please do not email him or her to ask about your recruit. They don't know them and they have a hard enough time doing their job without having to answer emails that have nothing to do with their company.
Anything on this board is off limits to your recruits. Please understand that no matter how insignificant it may seem, your recruits do not need to have a printed copy of anything from this board. This board is here only to keep you from losing your mind and being left in the dark about the training aspects of PI. We are here to help support YOU.
Recruits are on a 'need to know' basis at PI. What they 'need to know' will be told to them by their DI's. It is not your place to send them training information, drill results, PFT results, or any other information that we may provide for YOU. Do not print pages from this board and mail them to your recruit.
