We received our first letter today from our rct. Boy I was really surprised. I was expecting the first letter to be bad,
but it wasn't, He is doing really well, what a relief. Our prayers have been answered, but we will continue to pray for all the recruits.

My son is in plt 2006. I just received the form letter today, but I already have my letter ready to mail tomorrow. I hope I hear more about how he doing in a
real letter next time.

Thats is truly great news. I think what the recruits get out of Boot Camp is directly proprtionate to what they put into it. Thats why it is so important that
their support mechanism (ya'll) remain positive and supportive no matter how hard it becomes. The recruits must maintain a positive outlook and they must
believe they can accomplish this difficult taks. Remember, they are a recruit for 12 weeks but they are Marine for life. Good luck.

My boyfriends family and I recieved our first letter on Wen. Nov 4th. He only had a short amount of time to write, and the DI told them to only send one
envelope so he put 2 letters in one. Then yesterday, I recieved a real full length letter! It was so exciting and he is doing well!! Nothing at all like I
thought the first letter would be, so Im ok. Im just so proud of him and the rest of the recruits. I will continue to keep everyone in my prayers! And hoping
everyone gets a letter soon

I just got my first hand written letter. I was so excited, things seem to be going well. one of the other recruits wrote RCT ____ says hi on the envelope. ( I
know we can not put last names on here) I want to figure out who it is and maybe he belongs to one of you.

Anyone get their first (not formal) letter from any RCTs in Plt 2005 yet? I'm running to the post office on campus like every 2 hours! I'm so excited
to just know he's doing ok and he's satying strong ;) I know him and all the other RCTs will make it through and become amazing marines! *keepin'

Hi All, i was wondering if anyone has received letter number 2?? I am so anxious to get a more detailed letter. I received one on Thurs and his parents on
Friday. It sounds like plt 2002 has not yet been given there one hour of free time. Somehow it continues to be 15 minutes with a promise of one hour
tomorrow. Tomorrow seems to never some. I am missing him so badly, this is more difficult than i had imagined.

The do get 1 hour, they are required to. The recruits do not know how long their time is, since they do not have a watch. Therefore they have no way of knowing
if it were 15 minutes or an hour. They may just be so busy that an hour feels like 15 minutes to them.

hmmm, that is odd. He specifically stated in his letter to me and the one to his parents that they were told they would get thier full hour the next day. He
says he was not given that. I am sure they are very busy, but how can it be referred to as free time, if in fact, they are required to perform other tasks.
That is not exactly free time is it??

It is free time. They have their own choice of what to do with this time. Most recruits will get things ready for the next day, study, or write home. A lot of
the time it is either getting things ready, or studying. These are things that they aren't required to do at night, but it is in their best interest to do
so.

I got my first letter today and he is really upbeat!!! What a relief. Started off by telling me he is staying under the radar and hasn't been ripped on
much by the DIs. He loves the food. Don't know what that means since I'm not big on cooking!! lol Anyway he is well and that makes me well!! I hope
all of you on this site get good news from your recruits. He told me the letters are really helpful. I think I'm going to ask him if there are any
recruits that don't get mail cause I know people who will write to guys/girls in the service.

I got my second letter today. Not as encouraging as the first. He is sick and apparently there is something going around the platoon. I guess that is tob
expected. I just hate not knowing how he really is. Is there any way to find out?

WELL WE GOT OUR THIRD LETTER TODAY AND I AM SORRY TO SAY THAT IT WAS NOT A GOOD LETTER. APPARENTLY THE SADNESS AND BEING HOMESICK HAS KICKED IN. HE ALSO STATES
THAT HE HAS NOT RECEIVED OUR LETTERS AND THAT HE WAS REALLY DISCOURAGED. I AM VERY SAD RIGHT NOW BUT HOPES THE NEXT LETTER WILL BE SOMEWHAT BETTER. I HOPE YOUR
NEXT FEW LETTERS WILL BE GOOD ONES. PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY EACH NIGHT FOR ALL THE RCTS.

The only way to find out how he is, is through letters.
The sickness that is going around is what we like to call the "recruit crud" it happens every cycle, even the DI's get it, and then they bring it home to us It's fun haha!
Don't worry though, if they get really sick they will be sent to medical to be checked out! The DI's will make sure they are well taken care of! amanda

Going to pray for all of them tonight, The sickness will pass. You know, they were all called to this and they'll go thru the sad times cause that's
life but they have the support of each other too and I believe their DIs want them to succeed. If your son was ever in sports remember how hard the coaches
could be especially when they were in middle school and our instinct was to want to protect them? Well, now they're going to go thru some training that is
really necessary for them and it's just another step on their path toward the choice they made and I think made with conviction. All of us get down and
they'll make it thru this. Faith, Hope and Trust and God's with them!
