And now you have a future; the one you were hoping for
This is day you left to join the United States Marine Corps.
It was a day of hope; it was a day of joy
It was the day they told you, 'you are a man, no longer a boy'.
They took you to an island, a place that you will now call a home
They said you are in good hands and you will never be alone.
They will wake up you at four am and tell you 'you have no time to rest'
You will gather your things, for you, my son, are now best of the best.
They will say bizarre things to you and try to beat you down
But then they will slowly build you up and turn those things around.
As days on, they will give you a rifle and instruct you how to fight
They will teach you how to kill by day and then to kill by night.
Just as I have been telling you, 'you are one of a kind'
The Marine Corp will then tell you 'no man left behind'.
They'll bring you through this crucible; an exercise you must perform
You know you will be on fire, even throughout a violent storm.
And so that graduation day will come and you will pass
Along the parade deck now a man of first class.
As I told you before and I'll say it once again 'your life will never again be serene'
Because you will now become a United States Marine!!
