It was posted on the old board, and I haven't seen it since. If someone knows what the specific requirements are for attaining each level, that would be better yet. Thanks in advance to anyone who has the answer.

The week after rifle qualifications is when they get their second chance to try again, it actually happens very often as the recruits are very nervous and want to do well. During Team week, the recruits who didn't qualify on Friday will get to try again. The USMC doesn't let them get dropped back in training without giving them several chances. The majority (if not all) of the recruits who didn't pass rifle qualifications on TD40 will pass during team week. If they are still unable to pass after Team week, then, they will be dropped back in training. Usually only one or two for an entire company of 500 male recruits may possibly get dropped back in training. so yes, they usually all pass on the second go round! if they do happen to fail to qualify on the rifle range during Team Week, they will be dropped back in training to the company which is about to begin grass week; a recruit can be dropped back in training twice for failing to qualify before being separated from the Marine Corps.. however there is one caveat... 92 day reservists that do not qualify on TD40 have the option of becoming regular reservists or being separated from the Marine Corps Alison - Marine & DI Wife Countdown to Mike & November Co Graduation!! Now not only do they have to do the normal Known Distance course of fire (which is listed in the Training Week 7 posts) they have to do a combat marksmanship course of fire which includes a complete evaluation of shooting skills, which include firing in combat gear, movement, magazine exchange, multiple targets and "controlled pairs." (of targets) all while wearing the combat gear Marines will be expected to wear and fire in Iraq; i.e. a helmet, body armor, magazine pouches and a three point sling. the scoring for the known distance course remains the same (maximum of 250 as listed above) but the combat marksmanship course score is added to the known distance score to make the qualification score (maximum of 350) and determines what level they have acheived and which of the above badges they are authorized to wear. Expert = 305-350 Sharpshooter = 280-304 Marksman = 250-279 If for some reason they did not do as well as they had hoped then they will of course be given the opportunity to better their score once they are in the Fleet Marine Force. The one located on recruit parents is simply a link to the official MCRDPI website training matrix. On TD40 the recruits do the known distance part of the rifle qualification... during week 9 they do the field firing (aka combat marksmanship) portion of the rifle qualification. These are done on different days depending on which series the recruit is in so there isn't a set day that it occurs. Remember the rifle score that determines which badge they wear is calculated this way: known distance score + combat marksmanship score = final rifle qualification score so it isn't until at least the end of week 9 that a recruit would be able to tell you what their final rifle qualification score is with a maximum of 350 points. Keep in mind that recruits are usually very nervous on Qual Day but then relax during Team Week and have no problems. Alison Marine & Marine Wife

A possible means that they "possibly" got all the rounds of the rapid fire in the black, it is only official on the scorecard. Remember the rapid fire is firing 10 rounds in 60seconds. There are two rounds of rapid fire, one at the 200yd line and one at the 300yd line. The overall rifle qual score is not computed until after they do the field fire during ALine in week 9/10. Posts: 883 Jan 17 09 9:17 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	i wanted to add in a note here about the two different courses for fire .....the known distance course is the course they fire during firing week at the rifle range ...... the combat stye shooting is called table two ....and is dont during the two weeks that include bwt ( basic warrior training ) as was stated by sgt tali above the table two score is added to the known distance score to allow them to achieve a higher badge .... what you also need to know is that both courses are required pass in order to continue on in training ..its kind of like the pft .....although you can reach a passing score with just one element ...if you fail one you dont pass ...... if the recruits do not qualify on table two they can be dropped for refire on that ..its a grad requirement to pass that event ....it isnt talked about much because its very rare that they dont pass this evalution of training .
