Is it true that because of Thanksgiving the Recruits who were suppost to start the Crucible that day will be starting it on Tuesday instead?

I know this question is very late in asking , seeing that we are now going into week 8. How are recruits put into their particular platoons.Also , when a recruit is recycled what is the determining factor that puts them into certain platoon?

If you are recycled at the firing range do you do grass week again? if not do you just fire? If you got to fire did they get to try and qualf on that fri or did they have to wait untill their plt catches up with them?

Confusion about rifle qualifications

I've been reading a lot about rifle qualifications & have gotten myself really confused. Can somebody in the know put all this in "mom terms" & explain it a little clearer to somebody who knows nothing about either guns or military terminology?

First, when I read the thread in this section, there was a point system they explained on the first post but the post was rather old. The thread went on to say qualifictions had changed & so the points changed....

Hi. I was just going through the training matrix and comparing it with the information listed for the various weeks in the Daily Training Schedule forum and finding very significant discrepancies. I know the whole thing is subject to changes due to weather, etc., but the schedules in that sticky forum suggest a very different schedule. Just one example, there is no Gas Chamber on TD24. Instead, it is in the 9th week on TD50 for lead series, and I think...

weight loss

my fiance told me that he had already lost a good amount of weight and he's only have been gone a month on the 5th of Aug.
how much weight do recruits normally lose? on average?
i know he's been sick and trying to keep eating but i was just slightly concerned.

Their Weapon?

OK, this may be a really dumb question, but I've been reading that they were issued their M16, their weapon. Does this come home with them when they are done at boot? Or do they turn it back in for the next guy? And, are they then issued another one when they get to the fleet? or SOI/MCT? My son's MOS is Infantry, if that makes a difference. I imagine he will sleep with his weapon...

SDI Inspection

I wonder if someone might describe the SDI Inspection that occurs at the end of the 3rd training week. I assume the recruits stand in formation and are visually inspected for uniform conformance, and I believe I have read that the recruits better know their General Orders. I guess the barracks and equipment, especially each recruit's rifle, are all inspected. I'm just guessing, but I'd like to know more about it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can elaborate a little.

PFT
The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) consists of three parts:

Male Pull-Ups (max of 20)
Female Flexed Arm Hang (max of 70 sec)
Crunches (max of 100)
3.0 mile run (Female min 21:00 minutes/max 31:00 minutes)
(Male min 18:00 minutes/ max 28:00 minutes)

The run times are for ages 17-26 (you get more time if you are older)

each event is worth a 100 pts (300 is perfect) For example a male with 20...

I just got a call from my daughters recruiter and was told that my daughter has recieved meritorious promotion. She is not Honor Grad. So how does one earn this title?

Is it just main stream: Catholic, Baptist, ect or are non-mainstream religions allowed to practice?

We were told - maybe by the recruiter not 100% sure - that there is non-denominational and spiritual/pagan religious "services" available now available at boot camp on Sundays since the militayr is more liberal at what religion you are allowed to put on your dog tags. (Does anyone know if there is even a limit on what can be put in that feild?)

Is it possible for a recruit who has already earned the rank of PFC before entering bootcamp, to still be chosen for Honor Grad or be meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal? What scores do they need to make on the MCMAP test, SDI inspection, swim qualifications, rifle qualifications, and PFT? Also if they have held both guide leader and squad leader does that help increase their chances of becoming Honor Grad or meritoriously promoted. What if they have done really good...

My boyfriend auditioned on the trumpet, and was accepted. The length of his MOS is 150 days, but other than that I don't know much. I think they will give him a list of openings in several bands and he will be able to choose which one he wants to be in, and we will live on that base.
